Patricia Neal

Patricia Neal de son vrai nom Patsy Louise Neal né le 20 janvier 1926 à Packard dans le Kentucky est une actrice américaine.

Elle a passé son enfance à Knoxville dans le Tennessee. Elle étudia la comédie à la Northwestern University, puis débuta à Broadway remportant un Tony Award pour Another Part of the Forest. En 1949, elle débuta dans le film John Loves Mary avec Ronald Reagan.

Elle rencontre l'écrivain Roald Dahl chez Lillian Hellman et l'épouse en 1953. Ils auront cinq enfants.

En 1963, elle reçoit l'oscar de la meilleure actrice pour son rôle dans le film Le Plus sauvage d'entre tous de Martin Ritt. Sa voix grave alliée à un physique peu commun en font une actrice fascinante.

En 1965, alors qu'elle est enceinte, elle subit trois attaques d'anévrisme cérébral, et tombe dans le coma durant trois semaines, avant d'en sortir indemne.

Son union avec Roald Dahl s'achève en 1983 par leur divorce. En 1981, un téléfilm anglais retraçait sa vie, où elle était incarnée par Glenda Jackson.
